Construction Details

• Rya knot technique — rya knots are a Scandinavian weaving tradition where individual yarn bundles are tied around pairs of warp threads and then cut to create a pile effect; in this hanging, each knot uses 3 strands of 4/8 cotton, cut to 2 inches after tying
• Alternating flat/pile zones — 3-inch plain-weave bands alternate with 2-inch rya rows, creating a horizontal rhythm of smooth and textured zones; 72 inches of length contains approximately 12 complete flat/pile cycles
