A 12×72-inch table runner woven from 100% natural jute — a vegetable fiber harvested from the Corchorus plant, specifically valued in home textiles for its distinct golden-brown tone, stiff drape, and visible fiber texture. This runner uses a plain-weave construction at a medium thread count (approximately 14 warp ends per inch), resulting in a semi-transparent cloth with visible individual warp threads when held to the light.

What Jute Is (and Is Not)

• Stiff drape, not soft — jute fiber has very low elasticity and a characteristic stiffness; this runner will not drape over table edges the way cotton does; it lies flat and slightly raised above the table surface
• Natural golden-brown tone — the color is the raw fiber's natural pigment (lignan compounds); no dye is applied; the tone will lighten very slightly over years of exposure to indirect daylight
• NOT machine washable — jute fiber weakens significantly when wet and will shed fibers and lose structural integrity in a washing machine. Clean only as described below.
• Texture: slightly rough, very natural-looking — individual fiber bundles (called "fiber ribbons") are visible within each yarn; this is the natural characteristic of jute, not a defect

Materials & Care

100% natural jute. Do NOT machine wash or hand wash. To clean: shake out loose debris, then vacuum on low suction without a beater bar attachment. For spills, blot immediately with a clean, dry white cloth — do not rub. Allow to air-dry completely. For stubborn spots, use a barely damp cloth with a tiny amount of mild dish soap; press gently and allow to dry fully in a well-ventilated area. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight exposure.
